Decorate the wooden crates with recycled material! Stefania Martini's tutorial
For many years I have been passionate about creative recovery, and being able to give a new soul to recycled and recycled objects always gives me great satisfaction! I could call myself a passionate and conservative researcher, because there is no perfect recipe to create pretty decorations: the main ingredient is always and only your imagination!
Today I want to explain to you how to decorate a fruit box to create a nice marine-themed setting!
What do we need? Obviously a wooden box, a few pebbles and leftovers of electric wires (alternatively you can use rope). Then, the tools: acrylic colors, vinyl glue and hot glue for stones.
First I sanded the box with sandpaper to remove any wood imperfections and I painted it blue.
After this first step I created small spirals with blue electric wire cutouts. Spirals that I have fixed with hot glue to form waves.
To hide the imperfections of the hot glue I used silver paint and glitter that helped me recreate the shine of the sea!
To embellish the box I chose a moon-shaped stone and wooden stars (readily available in DIY stores) that I attached with vinyl glue. I painted yellow and finished it with other glitter.
Finally I glued the stones and, once dry, I painted them in various colors, in strips or polka dots to create little fish. I finished the job with an ecological water-based protective varnish and here it is: a simple wooden crate has turned into a pretty seabed made with recycled materials!
